Rob meets MickeyImagine yourself 8 years old, standing on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the impressive "Cinderella’s Castle" towering in the foreground and seeing “Mickey Mouse” for your very first time. You shake his hand, give him a hug and pose for a picture with the smile of a lifetime.

Are you there yet?   Now imagine yourself 29 years later with that memory still fresh in your mind and that smile still present. It is that feeling that sparked the idea. It is that joy that created Mouse Voyages™.

Yup; that's me, Rob, standing with Mickey Mouse right there on Main Street USA. I have always found it fascinating how such seemingly insignificant moments can have such a profound impact on your life. For me it was that ONE moment; that one fleeting encounter that made me feel so important. Mickey Mouse was happy to see me. Me; a skinny eight year old Canadian with bad hair and thick glasses. As ridiculous as it sounds, that single moment changed my life. You can't put a price on self confidence & happiness and returning to Disney provided me with both. For me it wasn't about attractions, shows, parades or the fragrant smell of sweets that made their way to your nose as you walked along Main Street. Ok well maybe a little; but it was more about the feeling, the smiles, the joy, the sharing and of course it meant seeing my friend Mickey once again. It was a place that made me feel welcome and Mickey always made me feel like he remembered me. When your eight years old; that is recognition and acceptance that is well worth it's weight in gold.

It's almost 30 years later and I enjoy my visits just as much today, as I did way back when. As I matured; I began to appreciate the small overlooked opportunities that a Disney vacation provided. Sitting on bench and just watching people walk by; seeing the joy on their faces as they exit attractions; the emotion that overwhelms them when they hold a loved one in their arms and realize how lucky they really are. When you get it...... you GET IT. I was able to get it when I was a child; now I want to be able to share it.

In the true spirit of community, sharing and friendship; we have taken a moment to give you some insight into our favorite Disney places and events.

How I spread the magic: You know, the more I think about it, the harder it gets to answer that question. I would hope I spread the magic by lending an adult point of view of what Disney is, or can be for somebody. I have alot of Disney stuff around the house... very discreet however. Well as discreet as a 2ft x 2ft painting of Mickey Mouse can be; and people get excited when they see something new or find something hidden. By sharing my stories, anecdotes and experiences; I am able to turn on that little happy switch in somebodies head. ... That or they think I am crazy. I can live with that label.

For me spreading the magic is just about making somebody smile; making them be young again; even if only for a few minutes. It is applying the best in yourself to make somebody happy. How sappy does that sound? Well it's true. It's very easy to spread a good mood. If everybody made the extra effort, what a wonderfully magical world we would live in.

How I spread the magic: I work with children; and spend alot of time talking to them about my many Disney adventures as well as showing them photos and bringing them gifts. Their parents often ask me about my vacations and can easily see the passion and excitement in my eyes. I share my experiences and moments until they are ready to create their own.
