Magic Kingdom

Disney's Magic Kingdom Park, the pulse of the Walt Disney World Resort, has also been called "The Happiest Place on Earth". There is much truth to that nickname. The Magic Kingdom is a place where memories are made and imaginations run wild. A place to meet your favorite Disney characters or relax on a bench in a rose garden.  There is no moment more touching, no memory more vivid than that of holding a loved one in your arms and watching "Wishes - nighttime fireworks spectacular" explode in pyrotechnic and musical synchronization over Cinderella's Castle.

Hints & Tips

  • Arrive early - Not many people get up early enough to participate in the early morning opening show at the Magic Kingdom. I haven't been able to figure out why. Disney opens us up to all kinds of experiences and this just happens to be overlooked by most. On most days a family is chosen to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad and open the park with a show filled with song, dance and the famous Disney characters.
  • Co-pilot a Walt Disney World Monorail - Most guests don't know or are uninterested in knowing that you can request to ride in the cockpit of the Walt Disney World Resort Monorail. Guests can request to join the pilot as he navigates his way to the resorts or Epcot. Although you may have to miss a departure or two the children will really enjoy the view and feeling of importance by being in the cockpit. Some pilots have been know to offer children their very own co-pilot's licence.
  • Use the PhotoPass service - Disney photographers are on hand in a variety of locations to take photos of you and your family. Once the photo's have been taken, the cast member will hand you a special plastic card with a barcode. You can then have your favorite pictures printed at the park or you can visit the Official Disney PhotoPass website and order them online.
  • Buy an autograph book - No souvenir can come this inexpensively. Children love to have their autograph books signed by the characters. A great way to save time is by having the book ready by being open and turned to the blank page for signing.
  • Don't try to do everything - This is a vacation afterall and pacing yourself is very important. You cannot do averything Disney has to offer in one vacation. Enjoy the moments as they come without rushing them. Sometimes the most memorable vacation story comes from something you may have otherwise overlooked.
  • Drink plenty of liquids - Walking in the Florida heat and humidity can take its toll on you. Drink plenty of water. That may mean extra stops to the washroom but that is a small price to pay to keep yourself hydrated.
